Why must the way be Grace?

The title of this blog comes from a sentence I found one evening in Adoration while reading A Prayer Journal by the Southern author Flannery O’Connor.

In this part of her journal, then-college student O’Connor bemoaned the constant feeling of mediocrity in her life and spirituality.

“There must be some way for the naturally mediocre to escape it[.],” she wrote. “The way must be Grace.”
